Exhibit Information                                                            

The Staff and Board of Directors are working hard to continue to update the exhibits. It is our goal to make each visit to the Children's Discovery Museum fun and exciting. 

Front Entrance and CDM Store
A child can look through our huge front windows and see all the fun that awaits them. A warm and welcoming entrance where you will learn about the Children's Discovery Museum.  Kids can hang up their coats and play while they wait for their parents. Also, visit our store where you can purchase toys that are related to the themes of our exhibits. And check out our Children's Discovery Museum T-shirts.

Down by the Sea - Our Touch Tank for Kids is the newest addition to CDM!!

Everyone will love this hands-on experience with Maine's coast.  You can hold a starfish, watch the crabs eat or try to figure out how the sea cucumbers move, there is so much to see and learn in our Touch Tank for Kids. 

Restaurant (Generously sponsored by The China Dine-ah)
A child can create delectable meals with all the fixings while learning the importance of healthy eating habits. As children 'work' they learn all about the restaruant world; from cooking, waiting on tables, and manners to cashier, cleaning and managment, all while they play.

Grocery Store (Generously sponsored by Hannaford)

A child can learn about the importance of how money plays a part in their life. Pretend to be a real bank teller at the teller line. KSB has generously provided CDM with two new computer with fun banking games.

The Children's Discovery Museum Theater
A real working theater where children's imaginations can come to life on stage. You can have a puppet show, play with the dress up costumes or just use your imagination and create your very own play.

Music area
Everyone can be a musician here!! Try your hand at one of our many instruments.

Maine Campground
Maine is a wonderful place to experience camping! Thanks to LL Bean, we have a real campsite with all of the necessary elements…a tent, cookware, backpacks, binoculars and even animals! Come experience our campsite.

Tree House/Nature Center
Visit our newly redecorated tree house where kids can learn about animals in their own habitats. Kids can learn more about our states most wonderful resource, our land. Learn about the importance of conservation. Learn about all of the wonderful animals that live in our area including the many different species of birds.

Engineering/Construction/Transportation Exhibit

Learn the construction trade from conception to actual construction, including surveying, drafting and engineering. Kids will be able to use real tools to design roads and buildings and bridges. Drafting tables, new Lego's, new construction toy equipment, the ever popular slide and play on the school bus! And don't forget to visit the famous skid steer that has been upgraded to include fantastic safety guards and accouterments to make it easier for all kids to ride! Check out our touch screen television monitor where you can watch real live road construction. A must for those children who love heavy equipment.

Birthday Party Room
A colorful, fun, room where children can celebrate the most important day…their birthday. Kids can be king or queen of the day, sitting on their throne. Check our Birthday Party page for more information. 

The Art Studio

Our new Art Studio is a great place for kids to use their artistic talents to create wonderful take home masterpieces.  Imagination inspired crafts await children here as well as suggested activites on special occassions.
